I love music. It moves my soul and gives us a soundtrack to our lives.

So, for this month's contest, let's set our dramatic writings to music.

The 1st movement of Beethoven's 5th symphony is one of my personal favorites.

As you read your story and listen to the music, the moods should coincide. As the tempo changes, so does the tempo of the story. As the music builds to a crescendo, so does the suspense!

There are dozens of recordings on Youtube to enjoy. Close your eyes, let the music play, and let the inspiration flow!

Hope you all enjoy this!

“You’re such a jerk!” she screamed.
“Well you’re a witch!” he screamed back.

Their voices echoed off the walls as they shouted at each other, each one trying to outdo the other’s volume, talking over each other’s interruptions, gesturing wildly.

“Why can’t you just shut UP!” she yelled.
“Well why don’t YOU?” he yelled back, slowly, emphasizing each word.

“You never listen to anything I have to say,” she said. “You always do what you feel is right and I’m dismissed. You are selfish and you’re haughty; inconsiderate and spiteful! I don’t know why I put up with it! I should just quit it! You can’t do one damn thing right by me! Ever since the day we got together you’ve been nothing but a problem for me! You have been nothing but trouble!

“Woah! Stop!” he shouted, holding up a hand and looking hurt.

Imprisoned PDF Print E-mail
Written by Linette Geraud
Why was she brought here and placed in this room? Why was she assigned to write something? She looked out upon the night's sky seeing the lightning as it flashed across the dark, tumultuous, velvet black canvas which lay before her. She was perturbed at being here. She was not asked if she wanted to be here, she was taken from her home.

In her mind she could see the invisible chains and fetters, which seemed to drift towards the walls of her room.

Why was she asked to write this assignment? Listening to the music which was playing outside in the courtyard, she frowned. The poor people who were playing under the pavilion when the inclement weather raged over head, it spoke of abuse. She looked down upon the paper that she was to write upon. She wasn’t going to be writing what they expected. This wasn’t to be a story of adventure or one of anything of great importance it was to be something to voice her objections. Much like others who have written pieces that have voiced their opinion. Some have written their objections in stories , some in essays, but are the messages actually heard? The woman didn’t know.
